The Downhill Side of Thirty
The Downhill Side of Thirty is a science fiction novella by Virgil F. Shockley, published in the late 1950s. It is set in a future society where strict regulations limit health and behavior for individuals over thirty-five, particularly banning sexual relations and tobacco use to address aging-related health concerns. The narrative examines the tension between personal freedom and societal control, reflecting fears surrounding aging and health in a regulated environment.
