The Donkey, the Elephant, and the Goat at a Public Meeting is a satirical play by Jack Preston, first published in 1920. The play features animal characters representing the Democratic Party (donkey), Republican Party (elephant), and the working class (goat), engaging in a public debate that highlights political rivalries and social issues of the early 20th century. Through humor and witty dialogue, Preston critiques the political establishment and advocates for the recognition of the struggles faced by farmers and workers, ultimately calling for unity in addressing socio-economic challenges.
