The Course of Logic
The Course of Logic
In the far future, the silths are a dying species. Once capable of existing independently, they now survive only by possessing human host bodies on an alien world, their original forms long since lost to evolution. Two silths remain, and their mission is simple: procreate to continue their species. But their human hosts are flawed, substandard vessels, and something always goes wrong. Then a spacecraft arrives bearing perfect bodies, genetically engineered and waiting. The silths finally have a chance to reclaim what they lost. But perfection comes with a price none of them anticipated. Lester Del Rey weaves a quietly disturbing tale about identity, adaptation, and what it means to be human when humanity is merely a borrowed costume. The logic of survival collides with the illogical nature of desire, attachment, and the strange things we do to persist.
