Translated by C. Delisle Burns
The Christ Myth, published in 1909 by German philosopher Arthur Drews, critically examines the historical existence of Jesus Christ. Drews argues that the narratives found in the Gospels are rooted in mythological constructs rather than historical facts, suggesting that early Christianity is a syncretism of various pagan and Jewish beliefs. This work sparked significant controversy and criticism from theologians and the public, positioning Drews as a key figure in the debate over the historicity of Jesus and the origins of Christianity.
