The 13th Juror

The 13th Juror is a science fiction novel by Leslie Waltham, first published in 1979. Set in the 23rd century, it depicts a society where crime is nearly nonexistent, and emotions are monitored through advanced technology. The story follows John Hastings, who is on trial for the emotion of hate he allegedly felt towards his wife, Mary, as jurors analyze his thoughts and experiences. This narrative challenges the boundaries between love and hate, prompting reflection on the complexities of human emotions in a sterile emotional landscape.
