Sonnets from the Crimea

In 1825, the Polish poet Adam Mickiewicz arrived in the Crimea, a man in political exile from his homeland, and found in its windswept cliffs and ancient ruins a language for his loneliness. This collection of twenty-four sonnets, written in a borrowed form and a borrowed land, became one of the foundational works of Polish Romanticism.
