Satan and the Comrades

Hell has a management problem. Satan himself, going by Nick these days, has just returned from Earth with grand plans to modernize the underworld and annoy his former boss into letting him back into Heaven. But there's a catch: a Soviet bureaucracy has taken root in Hell, complete with a scheming apparatchik named Andrei Broncov who thinks he can run things better than the Devil. What follows is a gleefully absurd Cold War comedy played out across the plains of damnation, where Nick must impersonate Soviet officials, outmaneuver Communist comrades, and navigate the bureaucratic nightmare of infernal politics. Bennitt's satire is sharp enough to wound two targets at once, theistic authority and Marxist-Leninist ideology both come under fire. It's a period piece in the best sense: the Soviet jokes may date to the mid-century, but the comedy of power, corruption, and petty tyranny never really goes out of style. For readers who like their satire with a supernatural twist and their hellfire mixed with political parody.
