Reinstern

An unnamed Earthling stumbles through the veil of stars into Reinstern, a world where love is not merely emotion but architecture, where truth needs no defense, and where the soul is considered more real than any material possession. The inhabitants of this distant planet have built something impossible: a civilization that functions without the engines of competition, where family boundaries blur into universal kinship and labor becomes a form of prayer. Our protagonist, schooled in the desperate arithmetic of Earth's scarcity, must unlearn everything to understand why the Reinsterians laugh at wealth and weep at violence. Richberg's 1920s vision pulses with genuine radical hope, not naivety: her utopia feels earned, built on the difficult practice of choosing connection over isolation every single day. The novel asks what humans might become if we stopped believing that selfishness is inevitable. For readers who crave speculative fiction that thinks big thoughts about who we could be, this forgotten gem offers a stranger, gentler answer than most futures.
