Peñas arriba
Peñas arriba, written by José María de Pereda in the late 19th century, follows Marcelo, a young lawyer from Madrid, who travels to the remote village of Tablanca in the Cantabrian mountains to settle family matters. Initially shocked by the local customs and landscape, he ultimately finds himself transformed by the rural way of life. This novel is notable for its vivid portrayal of rural existence in Cantabria and is considered a significant work in Spanish literature alongside Pereda's other notable work, Sotileza.
