Our Own Set
Our Own Set, written by Ossip Schubin, explores the dynamics of the Austrian nobility in Rome during the early 20th century. The story follows Cecil Sterzl, who introduces his sister Zinka to an exclusive social circle that initially rejects her. As Zinka's charm wins over many, particularly the handsome Count Sempaly, she incites jealousy and contempt among the established members. Schubin, a Bohemian-born novelist, offers a critique of social hierarchy and the rigid class structures of his time.
