Ordeal of Elizabeth

Ordeal of Elizabeth is an anonymous family saga that follows the life of Elizabeth, a beautiful young woman orphaned and raised by her spinster aunts. As an adult, she finds herself in a loveless marriage and falls in love with another man, only for her husband to be murdered the day after she confesses her feelings. The novel explores themes of destiny, temptation, and courage. Although sometimes attributed to Elizabeth von Arnim, her authorship remains unconfirmed, and notably, chapter four is intentionally missing.
