On the Eve

In the simmering pre-Crimean War atmosphere of 1850s Russia, the passionate and independent Elena Nikolaevna Stahov finds herself courted by two distinct Russian archetypes: the earnest philosopher Bersenyev and the bohemian artist Shubin.
