Nicanor - Teller of Tales: A Story of Roman Britain

In the dying light of Roman Britain, a young man hears the call of stories. Nicanor is the son of a woodcutter, but his blood carries something rarer: the gift of his ancestor Melchior, a legendary tale-teller whose songs once held villages captive. As the empire crumbles around him and warlords circle like hungry wolves, Nicanor leaves his simple home for the road south, toward Londinium, toward the heart of everything he's been told he might become. What he finds there will test not just his art, but his very sense of self. This is a story about what it means to carry a legacy you never asked for. Against a landscape of fading grandeur and rising chaos, Taylor paints the portrait of a young artist learning that storytelling is not merely entertainment but an act of survival, perhaps even salvation. The ancient world is closing around him, but within Nicanor's chest burns something the Romans could never conquer: the stubborn, luminous need to make meaning from chaos.
