Neville Trueman, the Pioneer Preacher: A Tale of the War of 1812

Neville Trueman carries a dangerous secret across the Niagara frontier in 1812: he was born in America, but his heart belongs to a British colony that views outsiders with suspicion. A young Methodist preacher with nothing but his faith and conviction, Neville walks into a world teetering on the edge of war, where neighbors become enemies and loyalty must be proved in blood. As American forces mass along the border and the shadows of conflict stretch across the frontier, Neville ministers to families torn apart by allegiance, all while concealing his American birth from those who would see him hanged for a spy. Through the Drayton family and the scattered settlers of early Canada, Withrow paints a portrait of a young man whose calling demands more courage than any battlefield: the courage to preach love among those who know only hate, and to remain faithful when every earthly loyalty crumbles. This is a novel of the War of 1812 seen from the Canadian side, where faith and nationhood collide and a preacher must choose between safety and salvation.
