Minnebrieven
Minnebrieven, published in 1861 by the Dutch author Multatuli, is a novel composed of letters featuring three main characters: Max, his wife Tine, and the young girl Fancy, who serves as Max's muse. This work is a sequel to Max Havelaar and continues its critique of the injustices in Dutch colonial Indonesia. Notably described by Willem Frederik Hermans as one of the wildest books in Dutch literature, Multatuli himself claimed it to be a faithful reflection of a month filled with emotions and impressions, blending poetry, sarcasm, politics, and more.
