Make Me an Offer

Make Me an Offer is a science fiction short story by Con Blomberg, first published in 1957. The narrative satirizes urban management and technological overreach, focusing on a city manager, Ross Ro, who faces public backlash when he proposes to cover Central Park with an artificial roof. The story highlights the tension between automated decision-making and community needs, as Ro's reliance on a computer system leads to unexpected consequences. It serves as a cautionary tale about the importance of human input in governance and the unpredictable nature of collective behavior.
