Mårbacka
Mårbacka is a semi-autobiographical work by Selma Lagerlöf, written in the early 20th century. It recounts her childhood and young adulthood at her family estate, Mårbacka, in Sweden, highlighting her experiences with family dynamics and the influence of her stern nursemaid, Back-Kaisa. The narrative explores themes of childhood innocence, relationships, and the contrast between tenderness and strictness in adult figures. Notably, Lagerlöf later regained ownership of the estate, which is now a museum.
