Lotgevallen Van Een Jeugdigen Natuuronderzoeker

A young boy's wonder transforms into hard-won wisdom in this sprawling 19th-century adventure through Mexico. Nine-year-old Lucien has dreamed of joining his father, a seasoned naturalist, on an expedition through uncharted territories. What begins as a boy's excited anticipation soon tests his courage against harsh landscapes, wild creatures, and the dangers of the untamed world. His father's protective worry wars with his commitment to teaching his son through direct experience. The book follows their journey through diverse Mexican ecosystems, cataloging remarkable flora and fauna while encountering indigenous communities. Gringalet, their faithful dog, anchors the human drama as a companion through moments of wonder and peril. This is both a boy's coming-of-age and a window into Victorian-era scientific exploration, where observation and survival went hand in hand. The bond between father and son deepens with each challenge they overcome together.
