Longevity
Longevity, written by Therese Windser in the early 1960s, is a science fiction short story that serves as a morality tale set in a post-apocalyptic world. The narrative follows Captain Hinrik and his crew aboard the Semilunis as they embark on a perilous expedition to find a lost continent, believed to have sunk after a cataclysmic event known as the Great Horror. Their journey reveals a desolate landscape and remnants of a forgotten civilization, exploring themes of hope, discovery, and the consequences of humanity's legacy. The story concludes with a poignant reflection on loss and the enduring quest for understanding.
