Little Philippe of Belgium
Little Philippe of Belgium, written by Madeline Brandeis in the early 20th century, is a children's novel that follows a five-year-old boy named Philippe, or 'Petit Choux de Bruxelles,' living on a farm near Brussels. Set in post-World War I Belgium, the story explores Philippe's dreams of companionship and adventure as he eagerly anticipates the arrival of his baby sister, Rose. As he navigates his idyllic yet challenging world, Philippe's encounters with animals and a cunning thief lead him on unexpected adventures, reflecting themes of childhood aspirations and the impact of war on family life.
