Jason: A Romance

Paris, 1913. Ste. Marie is a charming young man about town, drifting through the cafés and drawing rooms of the Left Bank with the easy confidence of a man who has never been truly tested. Then he meets Helen Benham, and everything shifts. Her younger brother Arthur has vanished without trace, and Helen moves through her grief with a quiet dignity that cuts through Ste. Marie's carefully cultivated detachment. What begins as a diversion becomes something deeper: a mystery that shadows their growing attraction, forcing Ste. Marie to reckon with what loyalty actually costs when the mystery of Arthur's disappearance threatens everything Helen holds dear. Forman writes Paris with the sensory precision of a poet at dusk, capturing the wet leaves after summer rain, the warm glow of evening light on ancient stone, the particular magic of a city where anything seems possible. This is a romance for readers who want love complicated by real stakes, where the heart's desires cannot be separated from the questions that haunt us.
