Ignatz

Ignatz is a science fiction novel by Ron Goulart, written in the early 1960s. It examines themes of identity and societal change through the lens of applied lycanthropy, where individuals can transform into cats as a means of stress relief. The narrative follows Glenn Wheelan, a teacher who returns to his hometown of San Miguel, where this controversial practice has gained popularity. The book uniquely blends elements of fantasy with commentary on modern life and relationships.
