I Sogni Dell'anarchico

A philosophical duel unfolds on a winter night in an elegantly appointed room. An aging man of measured perspective confronts a young anarchist burning with conviction, and over wine and tobacco they debate the nature of freedom, the weight of institutions, and whether violence can ever serve as legitimate protest. The younger man's anger is visceral: against a church that shackles the spirit, a state that owns the body, a society that demands obedience without question. But as their conversation deepens, the cost of his certainty becomes increasingly apparent. Written by Catholic priest Ugo Mioni in the early twentieth century, the novel takes a surprising turn when the anarchist falls into dreams on Christmas night visions that shift through historical eras and personas, each one testing his ideals against the messy complexity of actual human experience. This is not mere polemic but a genuine exploration of what radical freedom costs, and whether rebellion without foundation collapses into its own form of tyranny.
