Household Gods: A Comedy

A sardonic theatrical romp through a Roman household where the gods of nature come knocking at the door. Crassus, a moody barbarian married into Roman nobility, finds himself cuckolded not by a rival man but by a faun and the wild, untamed desires of his own wife, Adela. When Alicia, the clever servant girl, becomes both temptation and troubleshooter, Crassus must navigate a triangle of longing that blurs the line between mortal longing and divine intervention. Crowley's 1912 comedy slashes through Victorian proprieties with Pan's hooves, asking what happens when nature crashes into the domestic sphere and refuses to leave. The verse is witty, the jealousy is palpable, and the ending offers a twist that reveals just how absurd the theater of love truly is. For readers who want their occultism served with a grin and their comedies flecked with genuine tragedy.
