Good-Morning, Rosamond!

In the small hamlet of Roseborough, a young widow awakens to what she calls her "Wonderful Day" - the first morning of her new life, unburdened by a controlling husband but weighted with the expectations of a society that still believes it owns her. Rosamond Mearely is the wealthiest woman in town, yet she remains trapped in a gilded cage of domestic routine, her movements monitored by two long-serving housemaids who remember her as a bride and expect her to remain forever in mourning, in shadow. But Rosamond has other plans. She intends to embrace her youth and beauty, to claim the love and adventure she was denied, to step out of the narrow lane society has drawn for widows and into something wilder, something hers. Constance Lindsay Skinner crafts a luminous portrait of a woman standing at the threshold of transformation, where the simple act of being late for breakfast becomes a small revolution. This is an intimate story of awakening - of one woman learning that freedom, once tasted, cannot be easily surrendered back to those who would police her joy.
