Goddess of the Moon

A deadly plague is erasing humanity from existence, and one man holds Earth's last hope. Larry Gibson, a man haunted by despair, leads a desperate mission alongside the eccentric Crispin Gillingwater Ripon: journey to the Moon and retrieve the radium salts that might cure the Gray Death before civilization collapses entirely. In an era when space travel exists only in wild speculation, they must cross the void with nothing but courage and a fragile belief that salvation waits in the lunar dust. The clock is ticking. The Gray Death does not negotiate. Written in the early twentieth century when radium was believed to hold miraculous powers and the Moon remained forever beyond reach, this novel captures the giddy optimism and terror of an age standing at the edge of the unknown. Reynolds weaves a pulse-pounding adventure that feels both remarkably prescient and charmingly of its time, a testament to human ingenuity's refusal to accept extinction. The chemistry of his two leads, Gibson's weary determination against Ripon's irrepressible eccentricity, carries the story through its most harrowing moments. For readers who wonder what our ancestors imagined the future would look like, and why those visions still resonate.
