Frigid Fracas

Frigid Fracas, written by Mack Reynolds in the early 1960s, is a science fiction novel set in a future society dominated by caste systems and public perception. The story follows Major Joseph Mauser, a mercenary who grapples with his ambitions to rise in status while navigating a culture obsessed with televised violence and heroic personas. Through Mauser's cynical partnership with a Telly reporter, the narrative critiques the media's influence on heroism and explores themes of ambition, identity, and class distinctions.
