Festive Wreath

Festive Wreath
The Festive Wreath, edited by John Bolton Rogerson and published in 1842, is the first collection of works by Lancashire Poets, stemming from a literary meeting at the Sun Inn in Manchester. This anthology features contributions from a diverse group of poets, including the notable 'Bard of Colour', Richard Rose. The collection reflects a classical style and includes pieces written specifically for the event, with Alexander Wilson's 'The Poet's Corner' serving as a highlight. The gathering, known as the Sun Inn Group, was marked by a lively atmosphere and was predominantly male, with only four female poets contributing to the collection.
