Education as Service

In this startlingly mature treatise, written when he was just seventeen, Krishnamurti already diagnoses what many would spend decades trying to articulate: that education, as practiced, damages more than it nurtures. He argues that true learning cannot occur in an atmosphere of fear, authority, or mechanical routine. The classroom, he insists, must become a space of mutual respect where love and attention replace coercion. Krishnamurti contends that teachers themselves must be transformed before they can transform students.
