Die Reden Gotamo Buddhos. Mittlere Sammlung, Zweiter Band

A collection of translations of Buddhist discourses from the Pāli Canon, likely compiled in the early 20th century. This work presents a series of teachings attributed to the Buddha, exploring fundamental aspects of Buddhist philosophy and practice. Given its focus on the discourses of Gotamo, the text delves into themes of moral conduct, meditation, and the path to enlightenment. The opening portion introduces the structure and content of the text, starting with a foreword that emphasizes the authenticity of the teachings and their significance in understanding the original Buddhist doctrine. The first discourse described involves a dialogue between the Buddha and his followers, where he expounds on the qualities of true practitioners and the importance of mindfulness and non-attachment. The teachings reflect on the nature of suffering, the concept of self-cultivation, and the gradual journey towards liberation from worldly ties. This initial section sets the stage for a deeper exploration of Buddhist ethics and the spiritual path as outlined in subsequent teachings.
