Die Reden Gotamo Buddhos. Mittlere Sammlung, Erster Band

A collection of Buddhist discourses written in the early 20th century. This work presents a series of translated sermons attributed to the Buddha, taken from the Pāli Canon, specifically the Middle Length Discourses (Majjhimanikāyo). It aims to convey Buddhist teachings, exploring themes such as suffering, perception, and enlightenment. The opening of the book introduces the reader to the structure and purpose of the discourses, beginning with a detailed examination of the concept of ''Urart'' (originality) as discussed by the Buddha. It outlines the Buddha’s approach in teaching his followers about the nature of existence, the elements of the world, and the importance of realizing the true essence of these elements, thus moving away from attachment and misunderstanding. The dialogues between the Buddha and his monks emphasize mindfulness and the process of overcoming ignorance, which sets the stage for the lessons that are further detailed throughout the collection.
