Curiosities of Heat

In 1871, a Bible class convenes to wrestle with a radical idea: that the book of Nature and the book of Scripture are both divine revelations, worthy of equal devotion. Mr. Wilton leads his students through an inquiry into heat, not merely as a physical phenomenon, but as evidence of creation's purpose. A young scholar named Ansel grapples with questions that would preoccupy generations: Can faith and science coexist? Mr. Hume, the skeptic, challenges every claim with sharp reasoning. What unfolds is neither polemic nor surrender, but something rarer: a sincere attempt to hold both candles burning. Through chapters on radiation, combustion, and the thermodynamics of the natural world, Tefft weaves theology into thermodynamics. This is a document of its era, when the conflict between Darwin and Deuteronomy had not yet calcified into opposing camps, when believers could still ask hard questions honestly.
