Chasse-galerie
Chasse-galerie, written by Honoré Beaugrand in the late 19th century, is a French Canadian tale about lumberjacks from Gatineau who make a pact with the Devil to fly in a canoe to visit their wives. They must avoid blasphemy, not hit church steeples, and return by dawn to keep their souls. This story, also known as 'The Bewitched Canoe,' is a notable variant of the Wild Hunt legend and remains a beloved part of Quebec folklore.
