Catena Aurea, St. John, - Vol 4 part 2
The Catena Aurea, or Golden Chain, is a compilation by Saint Thomas Aquinas, completed in the 13th century, that presents commentaries from over eighty early Church Fathers, including St. John Chrysostom, St. Jerome, and St. Augustine. This work organizes their insights into a discussion format for each verse of the Gospels, reflecting Aquinas's deep knowledge of early Christian theology. Commissioned by Pope Urban IV, it aims to clarify the established meanings of the Gospels through the teachings of these influential theologians.
