A Vision of Venus; Or, a Midsummer-Night's Nightmare

A Vision of Venus; Or, a Midsummer-Night's Nightmare is a farcical play by Harry Pleon, first published in 1896. The two-act comedy blends elements of fantasy and humor, centering on Alphonzo Latherum, a hairdresser who accidentally brings the statue of Venus to life with a magical ring. As Venus claims him, Alphonzo must navigate the ensuing chaos, including his relationship with Jane and the threats from antique robbers. The play explores themes of love, desire, and mistaken identity, drawing inspiration from Anstey's 'Tinted Venus.'
