A pilot crashes in the Sahara Desert, far from any human settlement, and encounters a strange, golden child who asks him to draw a sheep. So begins the Little Prince's story, a tale of loneliness and wonder, as he recounts his journey from his tiny asteroid home through six other planets, each ruled by a solitary adult whose absurd preoccupations (power,酒, papers, stars) reveal the strange loneliness of grown-up hearts. The prince carries the rose he loves but doesn't understand, until the fox teaches him what it means to tame something, to become responsible forever for what you've cultivated. This is a book about what we lose when we grow up: the ability to see a snake that swallowed an elephant as a hat, to weep for a flower, to find the essential things invisible to the eye. Saint-Exupéry wrote it for the child he once was, and for every adult who has forgotten.

“I am looking for friends. What does that mean -- tame?""It is an act too often neglected," said the fox. "It means to establish ties." "To establish ties?" "Just that," said the fox. "To me, you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you, on your part, have no need of me. To you I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world....””

“You - you alone will have the stars as no one else has them...In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the sky at night...You - only you - will have stars that can laugh.””
