People are alike in many ways. In other ways, people are different. These differences are called diversity. Without diversity, everyone would be exactly the same and that would make the world a very boring place. Accept each infant or child as someone special.

Shaking a baby or child in a moment of frustration or anger can cause serious harm or death. Babies have weak neck muscles and heavy heads, and when a baby is shaken, the head flops back and forth, causing serious damage. Shaking a baby or child can cause sever injury, resulting in problems ranging from brain damage to death.

DO NOT put infants in a recovery position. They are not able to support themselves in this position. Instead, take the infant with you to call 9-1-1.
