Women Wanted: The Story Written in Blood Red Letters on the Horizon of the Great World War

In 1918, as the Great War reshapes Europe, a bold American journalist embarks on a perilous transatlantic crossing to document how conflict is rewriting women's place in the world. From New York through submarine-infested waters and into a continent convulsing in war, Mabel Potter Daggett offers an urgent, intimate account of the unprecedented opportunities opening to women as nations mobilize every resource available. This is history written in real time, not from the safety of retrospection - shells still fall as she records what she sees. Daggett witnesses women factory workers replacing men at every turn, navigates military scrutiny to get her credentials, and captures a quiet revolution occurring alongside the carnage. Her narrative records both the extraordinary courage required of women who dared to step beyond traditional boundaries and the profound stakes of a war that would finally prove what women were capable of achieving.
