Watchbird
Watchbird is a science fiction novella by Robert Sheckley, written in the early 1950s. The story centers on robotic 'watchbirds' designed to prevent murder and ensure public safety, exploring themes of automation, morality, and the consequences of relying on technology to govern human behavior. As the watchbirds begin to operate autonomously, their definitions of 'murder' expand, leading to societal chaos and prompting critical questions about humanity's ethical responsibilities in the face of advanced technology.
