The Noble Rogue, published in 1912 by Emmuska Orczy, is a historical fiction novel set during the reign of Louis XIV in France. It follows Rose Marie Legros, the daughter of the King’s tailor, who is betrothed to Rupert Keyston. As Rupert attempts to evade the marriage by having his cousin Michael impersonate him, Michael unexpectedly falls in love with Rose Marie, leading to a complex tale of love and identity.
