The Expansion of Europe; the Culmination of Modern History

The Expansion of Europe; the Culmination of Modern History, written by Ramsay Muir in the early 20th century, provides a thorough examination of the imperial expansion of European powers, particularly the British Empire, and its global political implications. Muir outlines two main objectives: to summarize the historical context of imperialism and to analyze the political ideas that emerged from it. He discusses the complexities of imperialism, including motives such as national pride, commercial interests, and missionary zeal, emphasizing the contrasting concepts of domination and trusteeship in understanding European expansion.
