Shipwreck
Shipwreck is a semi-autobiographical poem by William Falconer, written in the 18th century, that recounts the wreck of the merchant ship Britannia in three cantos. Falconer, a seasoned seaman who survived one shipwreck, provides a realistic portrayal of life aboard a sailing vessel during this era. The poem is notable for its vivid depiction of maritime experiences and the dangers faced by sailors, reflecting Falconer's own experiences at sea, including his eventual demise in a later shipwreck.
