Ramayan, Book 2

The Ramayana is an ancient Sanskrit epic attributed to the sage Valmiki, written around 500 BCE to 100 BCE. Book 2 continues the story of Rama, detailing his journey and the conflict with Ravana, the demon king who abducted his wife, Sita. This epic is significant in Hindu literature, illustrating the ideals of duty and relationships through its portrayal of exemplary characters such as the ideal servant, brother, wife, and king. It is one of the two major epics of India, alongside the Mahabharata.
