Poems for my Children

Poems for my Children
Published in 1847, 'Poems for My Children' is Ann Hawkshaw's second poetry collection, dedicated to her six children. The poems feature an intimate conversational style, with the final piece, 'Ada', serving as a memorial for her daughter who passed away at a young age. The collection also includes five historical poems that reflect on the Druids, Romans, Saxons, Normans, and the Crusades, foreshadowing her later work, 'Sonnets on Anglo-Saxon History'.
