Cecil's Own Book

Cecil's Own Book
Cecil's Own Book, published privately by Ann Hawkshaw, is her fourth and final collection of children's literature. Written in a lighter tone than her previous works, it features a mix of prose and poetry, including notable pieces like 'The Discontented Stream' and 'The Ambitious Water-Lily.' The collection concludes with 'In Memoriam,' a poignant elegy reflecting on childhood death, influenced by Hawkshaw's personal losses, including that of her daughter shortly after childbirth. This work highlights both the joy and sorrow of childhood experiences.
