The Penny Magazine of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge, authored by Charles Knight, was first published in 1832 as a response to Chambers's Edinburgh Journal. Aimed at the working class, this periodical featured short essays on various topics deemed important by its publisher. Despite its initial success, the magazine struggled to resonate with its target audience and ultimately ceased publication after a few years. This is the second issue of the series.
