Narrative Poems

Narrative Poems is a collection by Alfred Austin, who served as the English Poet Laureate from 1896 until his death in 1913. This anthology features twenty-one poems that explore various themes, including a tribute to the Protestant martyr John Huss. Despite his prolific output, Austin's work was often met with criticism, and he remains a lesser-known figure in English poetry. His appointment as Poet Laureate followed the rejection of several other candidates, highlighting the political influences of the time.
