Menaechmi; or, The Twin Brothers

Menaechmi; or, The Twin Brothers
Menaechmi, a comedic play by Titus Maccius Plautus, was written in the 3rd century BCE. The story follows two twin brothers, Menaechmus of Epidamnus and Menaechmus Sosicles, who are separated at a young age and later mistaken for each other in Epidamnus, leading to a series of humorous misunderstandings. This play is notable for being the inspiration for Shakespeare's 'The Comedy of Errors' and features numerous puns and allusions, explained in the footnotes of the text. It remains a significant work in the history of comedic literature.
