It tells the poignant tale of Cho-Cho San, a young Japanese girl who marries an American naval officer and faces ostracism from her family. As she waits for her husband's return, her hopes for a joyful reunion turn tragic. This story notably inspired Giacomo Puccini's famous opera of the same name.
