Letters on England
Published in 1734, 'Letters on England' is a collection of letters by Voltaire, written during his exile in England. The letters provide a critical analysis of 18th-century English society, contrasting it with the feudal system of France, and cover topics such as religion, politics, science, and literature. While the work was celebrated in England for its bold ideas, it faced condemnation in France, where it was publicly burned for its perceived heretical content.
